Why

Why to convert a classic car to electric?

Access low emission zones
To keep using your car in the future and to be able to access town centres with low emission zones.

Make money out of it
As an investment, a classic car converted to electric would still increase its value compared to buying a new car which would quickly decrease its value. (A new Tesla would loose 20-30% of its value year on year). You can also keep the ICE engine and swap it back on to preserve the originality of the vehicle.

The environment
Your carbon footprint would be much lower than opting for a new car as you'll recycle not only the donor vehicle but also batteries and any other reusable components.
An electric motor has an efficiency of around 85-90% agains a combustion engine which would be 40-50% (source nrdc.org)

Easy maintenance
Electric motors are much simpler than combustion engines to maintain. You can still keep all the original engine but stored away.

Extensible in future
Future proof as you'll be able to upgrade batteries as and when better batteries will become available to recycle.

Use it more often
You may end up using your classic car more often, thinking that 58% of daily commutes are less than 5 miles, a classic EV conversion with a small battery pack would be ideal.
