On-board charging port access through the front badge
For accessing the charging port I have now fitted the front badge with 3 magnets.
I have also constructed 2 curved semi-telescopic brackets to hold the badge open and assisting the swing movement when opening (these brackets are a bit to crafty and only time will tell us if the solution needs changing).
My aim was to keep weight and engineering complexity to a minimum.
Material used are:
3 strong magnets
2 strip magnets (I don't think these do any difference)
Hot glue
6mm PVC flexible tubing
A metal rod to flow inside the tubing
Note: The front badge is not an original component and I have replaced it with a non original. The original front badge I understand was made of metal.
You can find metal replacements, but the one I did see online were made of 3 pieces, which would have helped in a way as the grid like bit would have been detached from the 2 side bars.
